SMS Medical College, Jaipur, issued a public advisory warning against the use of paracetamol for heat-induced fever. “Heatstroke fever is not caused by bacterial, viral, or other infections. Antipyretics like paracetamol are ineffective because there are no pyrogens involved,” Dr Sunil Mahawar, nodal officer (seasonal diseases), SMS Medical College, told TOI.
